Babysitter's Boot Camp - 2 Day Class The purpose of the two-day American Red Cross Babysitter’s Boot Camp is to provide individuals ages 11 to 15 with the information and skills necessary to provide safe and responsible care for children in the absence of parents or adult guardians. This course will cover how to care for breathing and cardiac emergencies for infants, and children. Participants will also develop skills in leadership and professionalism; safety and safe play; and first aid. You get the knowledge, skills and confidence to care for infants and school-age children. Combining video, activities, hands-on skills training and discussion for a complete learning experience. In this class, students are trained in Babysitter Training, First Aid, Infant CPR, and Child CPR. Babysitter’s Boot Camp shows you how to: Respond to emergencies and illnesses with first aid Rescue breathing and other appropriate care Make decisions under pressure Communicate with parents to learn household rules Recognize safety issues Manage young children Feed, diaper and care for infants Caring for victims of sudden illness Heat and cold emergencies Bandaging wounds Caring for bleeding and muscle and bone injuries Basic precautions to prevent disease transmission
Babysitters need to bring lunch, including drink, to class each day. The cost is $100. Pre-registration is required. What you need to know and what every parent wants in a responsible babysitter!  Designed for 11 to 15 year olds, the Babysitters Training Course can help you interview for a babysitting job, choose safe and age appropriate toys and games, prevent injuries and be prepared if an emergency happens, learn diapering and feeding techniques, handle bedtime issues and more! After attending this 1-day class, students will receive a certificate for Red Cross Babysitter Training. Please note that this class does not include certification in First Aid or CPR. Requests for refunds must be received at least three working days prior to the course start date. No refunds will be given without the three day notice. There is a $10 administrative fee for all refunds, and no refunds are given for courses that total $15 or less.
What if enough people don't register for a class? The American Red Cross reserves the right to cancel any scheduled class if minimum enrollment is not met. If you have registered for a class that is cancelled you will be offered the option of a full refund or to be placed in the next scheduled class.
What if I register for a class and due to unforeseen circumstances I am not able to attend? Call the Chapter at (615) 790-5785 or (800) 663-5785 and let us know the class you are registered for and the date you had planned to attend. Your registration can be transferred to the next regularly scheduled class or your registration will be held for up to three months.
