FRANKLIN, Tenn., Feb. 12, 2008 – In the wake of a natural disaster, the Williamson County Chapter of the American Red Cross is usually in the business of giving support to people in need. Today, the chapter received support, thanks to a generous donation from Nissan of Cool Springs. The local dealership presented the keys to a blue 2008 Nissan Rogue SL to Red Cross Executive Director Susan Shreve. The chapter will use the small crossover utility vehicle for one year to support its service activities for people who live in Williamson, Hickman and Humphreys counties. “We are truly grateful to Nissan of Cool Springs for the use of the Rogue,” said Shreve, “and this gift could not have come at a more opportune time. Following last week’s tornadoes, our chapter is operating two Service Centers, in Fairview and Centerville. We’ll begin to use the Rogue immediately to help people who desperately need our services.” This gift marks Nissan of Cool Springs’ first vehicle donation to a local nonprofit. “All businesses should give back to their community, and this is one way we can give,” noted Vincent Caccese, general manager of Nissan of Cool Springs. “The Rogue is a resource the Red Cross staff and volunteers can use every day while they’re making a difference in people’s lives. In times of disaster, people depend on the Red Cross. We know this vehicle will be put to good use, and we’re glad to partner with the Red Cross with this donation.” The American Red Cross is committed to providing disaster victims with emergency assistance in the form of food, clothing and shelter. Following the tornadoes that swept through Middle Tennessee on Tuesday, Feb. 5, the Williamson County Chapter has provided: · 1,500 meals to disaster victims and volunteers; · 780 snacks to disaster victims, people working at the tornado sites and Service Centers; · dozens of clean-up and comfort kits; and · mobile feeding and outreach to 65 families in Williamson County and 24 families in Hickman County. The Nissan Rogue, which went on sale in September 2007, has a standard 2.5-liter 4-cylinder engine, Nissan’s standard Xtronic Continuously Variable Transmission and 4-wheel disc brakes with Anti-lock Braking System. Rogue offers a long list of standard features, including front seat-mounted side-impact supplemental air bags and roof-mounted curtain supplemental air bags. Its roomy cargo area will provide ample space for the chapter’s needs.
